Dr. Jennifer Bartlett
Registered Psychologist
Dr. Jennifer Bartlett is a registered psychologist whose training and education has taken her across Canada from the East coast (B.Sc. in Neuroscience with Honours from Dalhousie University; M.Ed. in Counselling from the University of New Brunswick) to the prairies (Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta).
Dr. Bartlett strives to foster a warm, supportive, and genuine relationship with all her clients, and is committed to working collaboratively with her clients to ensure their goals are met. She draws on and integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches to best meet her client’s needs based on their personal experiences, beliefs and worldviews. Dr. Bartlett has experience working with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, emotion dysregulation, self-harm, and borderline personality disorder, cancer and cancer-related concerns. She has a particular interest and niche in working with clients struggling with eating disorders, body image, and trauma, and she has specialized training in emotion-focused therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) which she uses to treat numerous clinical concerns. The role of emotions greatly informs her work as she values the wealth of knowledge that emotions can offer us, and in using these approaches she promotes change by helping her clients explore, understand, regulate, and transform their emotions. In addition to these specialties, Dr. Bartlett also has experience and training in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), both of which she regularly integrates into her practice according to her client’s goals and needs.
In addition to therapy, Dr. Bartlett is a WPATH trained clinician and offers trans-health readiness assessments for adults seeking gender-affirming care. These assessments involve participation in an interview during which questions are asked about the lived experience of a client’s gender identity and will allow for the gathering of pertinent medical and mental health information.
Dr. Bartlett also conducts psychoeducational assessments with both children and adults for diagnostic queries regarding learning disorders, ADHD, and cognitive and academic functioning. Dr. Bartlett conducts these assessments using standardized measures for intellectual functioning, academic performance, and executive functioning, and may include additional measures as needed based on the reason for referral.
